MANUAL OSTEOPATHY

Align the Structure | Soothe the System | Awaken the Soul
Manual Osteopathy is a form of traditional healing for the body. Through rhythmic movement and manual therapeutic techniques, with the goal to increase oxygen flow and energy balance to tissues. This is done with in depth expert palpation skills, utilizing hands on techniques to improve overall function and motility to different systems in the body to promote healing and recovery.

NEW TO MANUAL OSTEOPATHY?
Your first Manual Osteopathy session is approximately 90 minutes, giving us the time needed for a full-body assessment and a comprehensive treatment. Follow-up sessions can be booked for 60 minutes, focusing more directly on ongoing treatment and your evolving goals.

Manual Osteopathy begins with an in-depth evaluation that looks at the tensegrity of the body—how your bones, fascia, organs, fluids, and nervous system all interact and influence one another. In osteopathy, structure governs function, and your practitioner acts as an engineer of the body, decoding what your tissues are telling us and identifying the patterns behind your pain, tension, or movement limitations.

During your assessment, we examine:

-
Fascial networks and global lines of tension
-
Joint and bone alignment
-
Irregular or compensatory movement patterns
-
Organ mobility and overall visceral function
-
Fluid movement, circulation, and lymphatic flow
-
Nerve health, innervation, and areas of restriction
-
Long-standing compensations and structural adaptations

Many clients pair osteopathic treatment with therapeutic massage to maintain the results between sessions.

As founder Dr. Andrew Taylor Still taught, “The body is self-healing when given the right conditions.” Manual Osteopathy works with that principle—reminding the body how to restore balance, release restriction, and return to optimal function.

Your practitioner will guide you through this process with a blend of scientific assessment, intuitive listening, and hands-on treatment designed to create long-term change in how you move and feel.

MANUAL OSTEOPATHY BIOGRAPHY
Manual Osteopathy is a gentle, yet profound hands-on therapy that supports the body’s natural ability to heal by aligning structure and restoring optimal function to the body. A discipline founded in the late 1800's by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. His beliefs in the body's self-healing capabilities and the interdependence of structure governing function. Still's early learning traditions emphasized balance, fluid movement, and care for the whole person.
By providing a blend techniques such as osteoarticular adjustments, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation to address the root cause of dysfunction that may be a result of past injury, trauma or compensation. By assessing how the musculoskeletal, nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems interact, we help clients reduce pain, improve mobility, and regain balance across the whole body. This treatment is ideal for chronic pain, postural imbalances, injuries, stress-related tension, digestive issues, and more. Whether you're an athlete, someone recovering from injury, or simply seeking better physical alignment, Manual Osteopathy offers a tailored, non-invasive path to wellness—rooted in functional movement and a deep understanding of the body’s interconnected systems all aimed at improving circulation, restoring alignment, and promoting the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Benefits of Manual Osteopathy
Restoring Healthy Movement in the Body

Joints, fascia, and muscles can become stiff or misaligned. Osteopathic techniques gently improve mobility, which can reduce pain and increase functional strength.
It Helps the Body Self-Regulate

Osteopathy works with the body, not against it. By addressing dysfunction at its physical root, the body often, rebalances posture, corrects movement patterns, reduces compensation.
It Calms the Nervous System
Many people operate in a constant stress-response state. Manual Osteopathy supports the parasympathetic response, this is commonly high in athletes or anyone consistently training regularly. Osteopathy can help limit muscle guarding, reduces pain, and improve sleep and recovery.
It Improves Circulation & Fluid Dynamics

Blood, lymph and other vital fluids must move freely for tissues to thrive. When circulation improves, healing accelerates, inflammation decreases, muscles and organs function better
It looks beyond symptoms
The painful area is not always the problem.
Examples:
Low back pain can originate from reduced mobility of the kidneys or tension through the sacrum.

Persistent shoulder or upper back tension may be driven by more than muscle tightness: it may be related to breath mechanics, rib motion or a restricted liver motility.
Digestive symptoms can be influenced by mechanical and nervous system factors: Increased respiratory tension changing pressure dynamics in the abdomen.

Osteopathy treats interconnected systems, not isolated parts.
What People Visit Us For
-
Pain that keeps returning after other treatment helped temporarily
-
Restricted movement through the hips, ribcage or spine limiting training or daily activity
-
Post-injury patterns where an old injury changed how you move and something else is now taking the load
-
Headaches and jaw tension with a postural or structural component
-
Recovery after surgery or illness, where scar tissue and fascial restriction limit movement
-
General stiffness that doesn't localize to one muscle
If your complaint is clearly muscular and you can point to it, massage therapy is often the more direct route. We'll say so if that's the better fit.
Common Osteopathy Questions
How long is an Osteopathy session?
Your first appointment is around 90 minutes, which allows for a full-body assessment and treatment. Follow-ups are typically 60 minutes.

Do I need a referral?
No. Some insurance plans ask for a doctor's note before reimbursing, so you will need to check your plan.

Does Osteopathy treatment hurt?
Generally not. The techniques are gentler than deep tissue massage, and craniosacral work uses very light pressure. Tell your practitioner if anything is uncomfortable and the treatment adapts.

Do I need to undress?
No. Manual osteopathy is done fully clothed. Wear something you can move in.

How is Manual Osteopathy different from massage therapy?
Massage therapy works directly on soft tissue and suits a specific, localized complaint. Osteopathy starts with a whole-body assessment and suits pain that moves, recurs, or followed an injury that changed how you move.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends how long the problem has been there. You should notice something after the first session, and we'll give you a realistic picture after the assessment rather than selling a package up front.
